How to Choose a Pond Pump
Choosing the correct pump can be difficult, but it doesn’t have to be!
– For a heavy waterfall flow, use about 2,000gph per single foot of waterfall discharge.
– For a lighter waterfall flow, use about 1,000gph per foot.
Tip: If your tubing is over 10′, add 1 foot of head for every 10′ of tubing.

Pond Pump Calculator
1. Determine head pressure: vertical feet from the top of the waterfall to the water surface.
2. Determine desired flow: typically 1,500gph per foot of waterfall width (average). Example: 2′ waterfall → 3,000gph pump.
Example: 5′ head pressure, 3,000gph flow → you need a pump rated 3,000gph at 5′ head.
