Although it may seem like the cheapest and easiest way to start pond building, choosing pond liner rather than pond-safe materials is an easy mistake to make, but one that could prove expensive later on down the road if you ever decide you want to change out your liner for any reason. If you use non-pond safe products such as pond liners as the foundation for your waterscape project, it will eventually cause problems with leaks or even worse – fish death or plant due to poor water quality!
If your pond seems like it’s not flourishing, then it may be time to take action! Healthy pond plants should have lush leaves and sturdy stems that can withstand strong winds. If your pond plants are not thriving, try turning off any filter or pump systems for about an hour or two after heavy rains so excess water can drain away from the pond bottom quickly. Natural pond processes will begin again as soon as the excess water has drained away. If you continue to struggle with pond plant life, adding more fish might be the best solution because they provide nutrients that help plants grow! Floating pond plants such as lilies require at least six inches of water above their crowns, while marginal pond plants can remain submerged up to their roots if necessary.
